The Manatee Hurricanes delivered another statement win Friday night, shutting out the Southeast Seminoles 41-0 in a dominant performance that solidifies their perfect start to the season. With three consecutive victories, the Hurricanes continue to look unstoppable on both sides of the ball.
Leading the charge for Manatee was quarterback Andrew Heidel, who was nearly flawless under center. Heidel completed 13 of 14 passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns, displaying poise and precision while keeping the Seminoles' defense off balance all game long. His efficient play set the tone early, allowing the Hurricanes to control the game from the opening whistle.
Defensively, the Hurricanes were suffocating, allowing just 10 total yards—6 rushing and a paltry 4 passing—shutting down any attempt by Southeast to generate offense. Kavion Smith was the star of the defense, making two key tackles and hauling in an interception that he returned for a touchdown, adding insult to injury. Manatee’s relentless pressure up front, with four recorded pressures, left Southeast with no answers and no time to operate.
Special teams also made their mark, with J’Kwan Williams earning Special Teams Player of the Week honors for his stellar contributions, helping Manatee control field position and keep momentum squarely on their side. With 227 total yards of offense and a defensive lockdown that allowed just 10 yards, Manatee’s performance was a complete team effort.
Players of the Week:
Offensive Player of the Week: Andrew Heidel (#5) – 13/14 completions, 182 yards, 2 touchdowns
Defensive Player of the Week: Kavion Smith (#24) – 2 tackles, 1 interception, 1 touchdown
Special Teams Player of the Week: J’Kwan Williams
Scout Team Defensive Player of the Week: EJ Lewis (#22)

But the Hurricanes’ toughest test of the season awaits this Friday night. They’ll travel to Georgia to face national powerhouse Lowndes Vikings, where they’ll look to keep their undefeated streak alive against one of the country’s premier programs. It’s a true measuring stick game for Manatee, and they’ll need all the momentum they’ve built to stay on top.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM, and you can bet the Hurricanes will be ready.
